What are backlinks in SEO?
Backlinks are links to your website from other websites. These links count as votes, showing that other people think your content is good. And Google, the big search engine, counts those votes and decides where to send traffic.
Since the beginning of Google, backlinking has been a very important part of SEO. If you have more backlinks than your competitors, then all other things being equal you will rank higher for keywords.
But, there's one major problem with SEO: backlinking is getting harder and harder. A few years ago, it was pretty easy to get a high-quality backlink from an authoritative site. Just write a great article on something relevant to their business and email them about it. If they liked it, they would add a link to the bottom of your article. That's it! Then build up more links like this over time and you're well on your way to the top of the search results page.
But things have changed since then and now it's much harder to get high-quality backlinks because webmasters are getting smarter about what kinds of links they want on their sites. You can't just email them out of the blue anymore; you need to first create a relationship
Backlinks are what you want. Backlinks are what you need. We're talking about links that connect your website to another, either on the same site or on a different one. In terms of SEO, those backlinks can be a huge boost to your ranking in the search engines. Backlinks are the most important element in SEO, as they help determine where your web page/s will rank for certain keywords that people search for in Google and other search engines.
